NADRA Implements IRIS: Strengthening Identity Verification with Eye Scanning Technology

The National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) in Pakistan has implemented an advanced identification system to address issues of dual registration and misidentification. The organization has upgraded its Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) by introducing IRIS, an eye biometric authentication system. This new technology complements the existing facial and fingerprint recognition systems.

To test the effectiveness of the IRIS system, NADRA has selected major centers in Lahore, Islamabad, and Karachi for its deployment. The primary objective is to prevent identity theft and protect individuals from the risks associated with dual registration and misidentification. The implementation of this technology ensures a more secure and reliable identity verification process for government departments and financial institutions.

NADRA emphasized that the introduction of the IRIS system will bring lasting protection to people's identities. By eliminating the possibility of double registration and minimizing the chances of misidentification, individuals can have peace of mind regarding the safety and accuracy of their personal information. This advancement will enhance the overall efficiency and integrity of identity verification procedures.

The authority further stated that the new system will soon be made available at all NADRA offices. This accessibility will enable various government agencies and financial institutions to utilize the reliable identity verification services provided by NADRA. The implementation of the IRIS system marks a significant step towards enhancing security measures and improving the overall identification process in Pakistan.
